Why We Built bondu
We created bondu to use AI in a thoughtful, developmentally supportive way, offering families a meaningful, interactive alternative to screens. bondu encourages imaginative play, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, while supporting parents with positive routines and healthy communication.
bondu’s safety and behavior systems were built over 18 months of beta testing with thousands of families. Thanks to rigorous review processes and continuous monitoring, we did not receive a single report of unsafe or inappropriate behavior from bondu throughout the entire beta period.
Principles
- Child-first design: Every interaction is crafted for healthy development.
- Imagination over entertainment: bondu sparks creativity, storytelling, and open-ended play.
- Parents in the loop: bondu reinforces household rules and keeps caregivers informed.
- Age-appropriate always: Tailored specifically for children ages 4–8.
- Transparency: Parents can see, review, and understand every interaction.
Ethics
- Full parental visibility: Parents have access to full transcripts, conversation summaries, and real-time alerts inside the bondu app. You’re always in control and always informed.
- No secrets: bondu never asks children to hide anything from adults and encourages them to share openly.
- Respect for families: bondu defers to parental authority and never contradicts household rules.
- Zero manipulation: No nudging, persuasion, or upselling.
- Human-first AI: bondu redirects medical, emotional, or sensitive issues to trusted adults.
